Open Studies Application

Open Studies is a temporary designation assigned to students who are permitted to take regular university credit courses and have not been granted formal admission to a particular program.

Open Studies students generally belong to one of the following groups:

• High School Students (Dual Credit)
• Alliance History & Thought Students (C&MA Accreditation)
  
• School Teachers/Administrators (Extended Learning)
  
• Chaplaincy Students (Clinical Pastoral Education, in partnership with Alberta Health Services)
  
• Foundations in Ministry Certificate Students
• Undergraduate Students (including Visiting Students)
• Seminary Students (including Visiting Students)

The Open Studies Application Fee is $100.

Please Note: 

Open Studies students may be required to provide proof that they have met the basic requirements for desired level of study, including, but not limited to: highest level of education completed, English language proficiency, and successful completion of course prerequisites.

An Open Studies student is permitted to take a maximum of 15 credit hours at the undergraduate level and 9 credit hours at the graduate level before they are required to complete the formal admissions process.

Open Studies students do not graduate.

C&MA Accreditation Application

The course material covered in both levels of study is the same, and both meet accreditation requirements. The difference is the level of difficulty and grading in the coursework, as indicated in the course syllabus, and what the course itself could be applied to for any future studies. We recommend you take the course at the undergraduate level, unless you are hoping to pursue a Masters/Seminary degree in the future and would like the credits from this class to be applicable. If you do not have previous university or college level education (as in, your highest level of education is High School), you can only take the class at the Undergraduate level.

Note: Approved students who are taking this course as part of their C&MA licensing requirements may qualify for a 50% tuition discount. Students must check with their respective district to ensure their name is on the list of approved (by C&MA) workers submitted to Ambrose. Students are billed accordingly.
